The AAVLD Bacteriology Committee would like to create an endowment to support a student award for best poster/presentation in the area of bacteriology in the memory and recognition of Dr Richard L Walker. This will be a tribute to Rich’s outstanding contributions to bacteriology and diagnostic medicine. We would like to make the first award at the 2009 AAVLD meeting in San Diego.
The group is soliciting contributions for the endowment and is requesting a minimum donation in the amount of $50 or more. Thus far there is a strong support for establishing this award from within the microbiology-affiliated as well as the general AAVLD membership. Details about the criteria for this award will follow soon. We hope to present a student with a $100-$200 award for an outstanding presentation or poster relevant to diagnostic bacteriology or mycology.
The checks can be made out to AAVLD Foundation and mailed to AAVLD Secretary-Treasurer’s Office.If paying by credit-card, please print the donation form above and fax it to the Secretary-Treasurer’s attention at 530-752-5680.
