ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR DIAGNOSTIC PATHOLOGY SLIDE SEMINAR CASES
62nd AAVLD Annual Meeting-- Diagnostic Pathology Slide Seminar Saturday, October 26, 2019, Providence, RI

Deadline for submission: July 15, 2019

Anatomic and clinical pathologists are invited to submit cases for the Diagnostic Pathology Slide Seminar at the 2019 AAVLD meeting. Necropsy, surgical pathology, or cytology cases that present a diagnostic challenge, represent an emerging disease, or exemplify a classic condition are solicited. Diagnostic Pathology Slide Seminar Award Pathology residents and graduate students will be eligible to compete for the 2019 Diagnostic Pathology Slide Seminar Award. This award will be given to the top three presentations and comes with a monetary value of $300, $200 and $100 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Case Submission: A case summary should be sent to the Seminar Coordinator for consideration by Monday, July 15, 2019. Note: the case summaries are NOT submitted through Scholar One like the Scientific Program abstracts. Graduate students and residents considered for the Diagnostic Pathology Slide Seminar Award will be given priority for case selection. Because of this, no decisions regarding acceptance of abstracts will be made before the submission deadline of July 15, 2019. When submitting your case summary, please indicate your eligibility for the Diagnostic Pathology Slide Seminar Award by stating if you are a resident or graduate student. Experienced pathologists are also encouraged to submit cases. Style and format: Case summaries are limited to one page. Please use one inch margins and Times New Roman, 11 pt font; center and bold the title; center authors (full first name and last name) and affiliations below the title; and bold the presenter’s name. Previous year’s case summaries are available on the AAVLD annual meeting page for use as an example. Authors will be notified of their acceptance status by August 08, 2019. Presentations: Accepted presentations will be allotted 5 minutes and another 4 minutes for questions. Presenters of necropsy and surgical pathology cases must supply a set of 65 H&E stained glass slides. Cytology cases should consist of as many glass slides as possible; if less than 65 slides are available, then a representative series of high quality digital images should be provided. Case material (slide sets) should be submitted to Dr. Grant Burcham by September 2nd, 2019 to allow for distribution and review by attendees prior to the seminar. Each presenter and their sponsoring laboratory will receive a set of slides at no charge. Remaining slide sets will be available, on a first come-first serve basis, for a $50 donation to the Pathology travel fund of the AAVLD Foundation. Slide sets from 2017 and 2018 conferences still remain available for purchase. Please contact Dr. Grant Burcham if interested in purchasing such sets. Conference coordinators: E-mail case summaries to: Dr. Charan Ganta, Kansas Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506; email: [email protected]; phone: 785-532-5650.Send slide sets for accepted cases to: Dr. Grant N.
